Maj. Elizabeth Gum, 1st Theater Sustainment Command liaison officer to class VIII (medical supply) USCENTCOM Materiel Recovery Element (CMRE), lends out stethoscopes to nurses at the Dawood National Military Hospital in Kabul, Afghanistan for use during a class on identifying respiratory illnesses given by Capt. Debora A. Beltzer-Harper, forward surgeon and medical plans officer for the 1st Theater Sustainment Command, Jan. 20. Gum and her CMRE medical team are currently helping provide medical training aides like these to the Army, Air Force, Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF), USAID, and non-governmental organizations in the region through the salvaging and recycling of medical materiel in theater.
