NMCB-5 the First Deployable Naval Unit to Perform Battlefield Auricular Acupuncture
OKINAWA, Japan (Aug. 23, 2021) Cmdr. Andrew Olsen (left), Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 5’s commanding officer, receives battlefield auricular acupuncture (BFA) therapy from Lt. Jeffrey Moy, NMCB-5’s medical officer, onboard Camp Shields, Okinawa, Japan. NMCB-5 is the first U.S. Navy deployable command to perform BFA. The U.S. Navy Seabees with NMCB-5 are deployed, supporting a free and open Indo-Pacific by strengthening our network of allies and partners and providing general engineering and civil support to joint operational forces. Homeported out of Port Hueneme, California, NMCB-5 has 10 detail sites deployed throughout the U.S. and Indo-Pacific area of operations.
