Hospital Corpsman Test Samples

SAN DIEGO (Feb. 06, 2020) Hospital Corpsman 3rd Class Deja Blandino, assigned to Naval Medical Center San Diego (NMCSD), screens a blood product for type identification and foreign antibodies in the hospital's blood bank Feb. 06. Proper identification and screening of blood products such as plasma, platelets and red blood cells prevent reactions occuring during transfusions. NMCSD's mission is to prepare service members to deploy in support of operational forces, deliver high quality healthcare services and shape the future of military medicine through education, training, and research. NMCSD employs more than 6,000 active duty military personnel, civilians, and contractors in Southern California to provide patients with world-class care anytime, anywhere.
